Did you know ? How to choose your touch screen ?
There are two different touch screen technologies, resistive and capacitive.
A resistive screen can be recognized by its soft surface that sinks very slightly when you press it. It can be used with the finger or with a tip. It is composed of three superimposed layers. When you press this type of screen, the conductive materials are compressed and create an electrical contact between the different surfaces. It is this contact that is interpreted by the device to determine where you have applied pressure.
It will be more frequently used in dusty environments, likely to be exposed to rain or if you are wearing gloves.
The capacitive screen works with a simple touch. It has a layer of glass with an electrically charged conductive grid running through it. This type of screen use s the fact that the human Bobby is also a conductor, by modifying the electric field at the touched location. That’s why a stylus is not functional on this one.
It will be more suitable in an outdoor environment exposed to light. The choice of touchscreen on your tablet will depend on its use, size and environment.
